Two things happened on September 22, 1986.

One was the release of the song “Suburbia” by the Pet Shop Boys.

That song should sound familiar to anyone who lived through the 80s, but it might sound a little too familiar. Why is that?

Because September 22, 1986 also saw another new release – the premiere of a popular TV show.

How these two compositions resembled each other so much, not to mention being released to the public on the same day, is a mystery. But a funny one.

A fun little extra detail is that the ALF theme was composed by someone named Alf Clausen.
