On This Day In Music – October 20, 1984

Wham! landed at #1 in the UK, where they would remain for 3 weeks, with “Freedom.” This was their second #1 song. “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go” was the band’s first #1 hit in the States and the UK.

I loved this album. It didn’t hurt that it had the gorgeous George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley on the cover. There isn’t one bad song on it. To this day, I can remember the songs in the exact order they were played on the album. Impressive for a girl who can’t remember what she had for breakfast yesterday. 😉 What’s your fave Wham! song? Let us know below!

Fun fact: Did you know Wham! changed the words for “Freedom” to fit with a Maxell tape commercial in Japan? You can watch it below.
