On This Day in Music – December 2, 1983

On this day in 1983, MTV would air the original 14-minute version of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” for the first time. The video was inducted into the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress, making it the first music video to ever receive this honor, for being “culturally, historically or aesthetically” significant. Did you know the working title for this was “Starlight?” While we would have loved the music just as much, “Starlight” just doesn’t have the feel this album needed.

Enjoy the extended version below, which has more Vincent Price!
